Day 19 — Home in the quiet

The Flavor Bible

My husband reads
The Flavor Bible, reclined
in his chair. The dog is sprawled
with half her body lying
on the shed snow gear, dry by now
but left as if the children have
just come in, stomped their feet,

shaking the bits of snow and ice
from their clothing so it clicks
on the bare floor beneath them.
But, it’s well past the day of snow-
fall, where it’s new and sparkling
and the kids run eager to tumble
in drifts and build forts that will
disappear soon.

  2. Dear Cristina,

We truly *loved* your poem, which we discovered via a Google Blog Alert. Thank you for writing it!

Sending our warmest wishes to you and your husband on this chilly winter day,

Thanks so much!!! My husband will be tickled when he hears you guys found the poem. Your book was his birthday present from me, though he picked it out himself:) I like what he comes up with when he reads your book. He’s the chef. I’m just the taste tester.

Thanks also for putting my poem on your website and promoting my poem challenge!!!
